Shannen Doherty on "Charmed": "Let it be"

Shannen Doherty, best known for her 4-year stint in the original Beverly Hills, 90210 in the 1990s, has posted a series of emotional photos on Instagram that show her shaving her head as part of her ongoing battle with breast cancer.
The raven-haired star, who also spent 4 years on Charmed at the turn of the millennium and was on seven episodes of a Beverly Hills revival called 20210 in 2008 and 2009, shared six black and white photos in total, each showing a step of her cutting and shaving what had been shoulder-length tresses.
In the photo series are her mother and her friend Anne Marie Kortright, who helped her cut her hair and provided emotional support for the Memphis native who came to Hollywood as a child actress in the early 1980s.

The vast majority of responses on social media gave encouragement and praise. Many exchanged their own breast-cancer survival stories.
"They"re beautiful," said Doherty, 45. "But in the grand scheme of things, I would rather be alive, and I would rather grow old with my husband."
Doherty married her third husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, in 2011.
Although Doherty has been in treatment for breast cancer since March 2015, news of her diagnosis first came to light in August in a lawsuit against her former business management firm Tanner Mainstay. Doherty claims that her former business managers are responsible for making her condition worse because they did not pay her Screen Actors Guild insurance coverage for 2014, delaying her diagnosis and treatment.
