BLACKMAN TWP., MI The demolition and reconstruction of McDonald's at2601 Airport Road isn't expected to take more than 60 days, Blackman Township officials say.
Supervisor Jancek said the demolition is scheduled to start in March, and all permits have beenreceived by the township.
"There is no timetable yet for construction,"Dan Spaulding,a Grand Rapids-basedspokesmanforMcDonald's Corp., said. "Those Airport Road crew members who want to will be able to work at other area McDonald's (during construction)."
Theboard unanimouslyapproved the new McDonald's plan at its Octobermeeting, and Jancek said the company will knock the old structure down and replace it with a more modern version.
"One of the entrances will be terminated, the drive-thru will be a double-lane," said Township Engineer Jack Ripstra during a Blackman to Downtown Development Authoritymeeting onDec. 10. "A smaller dining room and bigger kitchen, since the most revenue is made through drive-thru."
Spauldingsaidthe restaurantis being demolished because it's easier forcrews to rebuild, rather than renovate an existing building.
