The Black Friday-style event, which has been named the sixth biggest shopping day in the UK, according to new data from SimilarWeb, promises to deliver "major summer deals" every five minutes today.

In a statement, Amazon said: "Prime Day is firmly establishing itself as a major summer deals day and weve worked hard to make sure we are offering our Prime members the lowest prices on even more great deals for Prime Day 2016.
Although the event is reserved for Amazon"s paying Prime subscribers only - the online store says non-paying members can still get involved for free, by signing up to its 30-day free trial.

Is Prime Day worth signing up for? Not sure whether to buy or not?Amazon"s competitive nature means its prices - particularly on tech - are often cheaper than rivals - so whether you"re shopping on Prime Day or any other day of the year - a quick price comparison can never harm your wallet.
If you"re in the market for a new TV or Xbox, it"s definitely worth having a search today, to see if prices drop. A quick tip is to bookmark any items you"re eyeing up, and keep checking back for any reductions as Amazon claims deals will be dropping "every 5 minutes".
Like Black Friday, Prime Day is particularly good for tech - especially laptops and smartwatches, TVs and video games. It"s a good time to invest in any Amazon own brand gadgets you"ve been eyeing up, with the Fire TV stick (down from 35 to 19.99), and the Fire tablet down to its lowest ever price of 34.99.
But, try not to impulse buy or purchase for the sake of a "deal". With Christmas now just six months away - the busiest time of the year for sales and product launches, there"ll be plenty more (and possibly better) savings to come.
