Alan Tudyk on the Imperial origins of Rogue One"s security droid K ...

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer (Official) REACTION!!!

Those of us without the benefit of a time machine or precognitive visions will have to wait until tonight to watch the new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but I"ve got a tempting treat to tide you over until then. Geek favorite Alan Tudyk (Firefly, I, Robot,A Knights Tale) provides the motion-capture performance for one of Rogue One"s reprogrammed Imperial security droids,K-2SO (Kaytoo), and in anew interview with EW, the actor delivers some insight into the grouchy, insulting robotic member of the rebellion"s background and personality:

"He has no filter. There was an old line, its not in there anymore. I dont think I can say it Tudyk presses his knuckles against his mouth, squints, is silent for a moment, then decides its safer not to share it. I cant say whatIwant to say, but Kaytoo can say what he wants. He can say insulting things very casually if he thinks theyre true.

Hes not an overly emotional guy. Hes not like C-3PO, whos like a fing neurotic mess.Hesflappable. Kaytoo is much more in theunflappable category. He was a security droid in the Empire and they sort of enforce whatever needs to be enforced. They are imposing. Hes 7-foot-1, and follows orders pretty well. If youre asked to be detained, he can detain you. They stand guard, and if somebody doesnt mind them, theyllTheyll enforce the sh out of [people.]"

Despite his cantankerous attitude, Kaytoo displays an unquestionableloyalty to Rebel captain CassianAndor, played by Diego Luna.Andor is the one who rescues the filter-freedroid out of Imperial servitude and wipes hisdatabanks clean ofprogramming to begin a new repurposed life with the rebellion.

Theyve been around. Theyve been together for a while, a couple years, Tudyk says. He wants what Cassian wants. He loves Cassian, because he freed him. Its also more paternal in that [Cassian] gave him life and took away the bonds of his programming.

Tudyk also provided the voice for K-2SO, one which we have yet to hear.

I have an English accent, says the Texas-born actor. I feel like a lot of the Imperial characters are English, and the Rebels tended to be like Han Solo, you think of the Americans. And because he was a droid, it made sense that it would be more of a proper accent.

Have a peek at Tudyk sharing a glimpse of his Kaytoo and tell us if you"re anxious to see this ex-Imperial enforcer on the big screen in December.

Movie Talk: New "Rogue One" Footage; "Suicide Squad" Tracking for Huge Opening Weekend

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY Official Teaser Trailer 2 - Darth Vader Revealed???

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (July 15, 2016) Dennis Tzeng, John Rocha, Matt Knost and Sinead DeVries discuss the following:

  • Box office Predictions (Brought to you by AMC Theatres)

Disney has released a new poster and featurette for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The footage highlights the films return to practical effects with behind the scenes looks at the newest characters populating the Star Wars universe. The clip alternates between finished footage and set videos showing director Gareth Edwards and his cast in action. Felicity Jones stars as Jyn Erso, with Mads Mikklesen as her father, Galen Erso, an Oppenheimer type figure with doomsday knowledge that is sought by the Empire and the Alliance. When Mon Mothma teams Jyn with Diego Lunas reliable Captain Cassian Andor, the two unite a team to help them pull off the ultimate heist. Rogue One also stars Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen along with Forest Whitaker as The Clone Wars character Saw Gerrera, and Ben Mendelsohn as the nefarious Director Orson Krennic. Rogue One hits theatres on December 16th.

Things are looking up for Warner Bros. DC Expanded Universe. Suicide Squad, the follow-up to this years less than stellar Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was a risky prospect for the studio because of its villain-centric premise featuring a bunch of comic-book characters general audiences know nothing about. But if early box office tracking is to be trusted, Suicide Squad will be just fine. Per a report from THR, early numbers on Suicide Squad forecast an opening as high as $125 million with the potential of climbing even higher. For comparison, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, featuring two of the most iconic comic book characters in history, opened to $166 million, so if Suicide Squad comes even close to that it will be a major success for the studio. And with Batman v Superman, the end problem was it had no legs at the box office and quickly slowed down over the ensuing weeks, closing with only $330 million at the domestic box office.

BUY OR SELL

While all the buzz at the moment is about Suicide Squad, the third official film in the DC Extended Universe after Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, next year the interconnected universe will get even bigger with Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 2, 2017 and also stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, and Sad Taghmaoui.

Entertainment Weekly has released new details along with an official first image for the Stephen King adaptation of the popular The Dark Tower series. Idris Elba stars as the Gunslinger Roland Deschain a character described as 200 years old with deep-rooted connections with the supernatural nature of the film.Roland is tracking down Walter played Matthew McConaughey, aka The Man in Black, a powerful warlock whos looking to bring down the films setting, Mid-World. In the EW issue, director Nikolaj Arcel also revealed that the movie is actually a sequel to the book series, sayingthe hardcore fans of The Dark Tower series will know that this is actually a sequel to the books in a way. It has a lot of the same elements, a lot of the same characters, but it is a different journey. The Dark Tower opens February 17, 2017

Lionsgate has unveiled the first character posters from the upcoming Power Rangers movie, giving us a closer look at the new ensemble. 20th Century Fox has released the first Rules Dont Apply trailer for their unconventional love story that takes place in 1958, revolving around the relationship between Lily Collins religiously devout actress and Alden Ehrenreichs equally conservative driver, both of whom are in the employ of eccentric visionary Howard Hughes played by Warren Beatty. Adam Sandoval writes:

All right, time to open up a can of worms.

You guys have said that you have dislike Star Wars episode 1-3 and said that you hate the Transformer franchise with pure rage minus the original. So my question would be what would you change to fix it in terms of story, character and flow of the films? Please be specific.

The Shiny New (and Old) Stormtroopers of Rogue One

Star Wars Rogue One Trailer 2 Breakdown

Today was Rogue Ones day at Celebration Europe. We got a look at the new ships and vehicles of the Empire, new behind-the-scenes footageand even the teeniest glimmer of Darth Vader. But as well as dazzling the main stage, Rogue One brought its costumes to Celebrations convention hall, and we went and took a look.

On display as part of the same Rogue One installation that brought us Director Krennics sharp shuttle and the TIE Striker, Stormtroopers were out in force. The the classic costumes styled after the Empires appearance in the original films showed up as did the new troopers (those of the Death and Shore variety) that will threaten Jyn and her erstwhile group of ragtag rebels in Rogue One.

The Golden Oldies

Lookin good, trooper.

The commanders of the stormtrooper forces in Rogue Oneconfirmed by director Gareth Edwards in the Rogue One panel to be portrayed by members of the Maldives National Defense Forcedo have something a little different to the ones we previously saw in the films: humongous backpacks that we certainly hope they didnt have to drag through the waters of the newly-named planet of Scarif.

The New Team

Described by their information panel as as patrolling defense squads at a planetary facility on Scarif (presumably housing components for the Death Star?)itself called the headquarters of the Imperial Military.

Being at the seat of Imperial Military might means fancy armor...

... And fancier weapons.

Not everything feels like classic Star Wars thoughthe combat skirt on this guy feels very much like the specialized armor of the prequels clone troopers.

The Deathtroopers, meanwhile, arent Imperial Military like their fellow troopers. Theyre pretty muchdescribed as Director Krennics personal squad of soldiers, highly trained operatives of Imperial Intelligence encased in black armor.

Shiny. On the stage floor, the look almost silver rather than the deep, dark black in the trailers.

For all the newnew weapons, new helmets, new armortheres still some of the old in the Deathtroopers: their sidearms, the classic Imperial SE-14C.

And Their Fabulous Boss

Also on display is the Deathtroopers bossor at least the uniform of Orson Krennic, leading officer in the Imperial Militarys Advanced Weapons Research division, is. I agree with Gwendoline Christie: that is indeed a good cape.

Be sure to check out all of our coverage of Star Wars Celebration Europe.
