Not everyone is lucky enough to have Veterans Day off, but those who do may be wondering if anything is open on the federal holiday that will be observed on Tuesday, November 11, 2014.
Not only are people trying to find out if banks, the post office, and stores like Walmart and Target are open on Tuesday, but there are also members of the U.S. Military wondering where they can find a free or discounted meal on Veterans Day.
Most retail stores, restaurants and even the stock market will be open on Tuesday, but there will be no mail delivery. If you need to ship a package or are expecting an important piece of mail, the Opinionated Nation reports that all post office branches will be closed on Veterans Day and nine other federal holidays.

All federal offices will be closed, but the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs states that state and local governments, including schools, are not required to close on Veterans Day, but many choose to do so. The Holiday Schedule reports that most banks, including Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America will be closed for business on Tuesday. However, East Coast-based TD Bank will be open on Veterans Day and several other federal holidays throughout the year.
Whether you have the day off or not, keep in mind that Veterans Day is a day that honors men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. To say thank you to veterans as well as active-duty members of the U.S. Military, many restaurants will be offering free or discounted meals or appetizers on November 11.
