Marshawn Lynch sends San Jose Sharks onto ice in Game 3 (Video)

Pittsburgh Penguins vs San Jose Sharks. 2016 NHL Playoffs. SCF. Game 3. 06.04.2016. (HD)

SAN JOSE, Calif. The San Jose Sharks returned home in an 0-2 hole against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2016 Stanley Cup Final.

They needed something to rally them. Needed that extra level to elevate their game. Needed that Beast Mode.

Enter Marshawn Lynch, the recently retired Seattle Seahawks great, whose unstoppable Beast Mode runs made him the best running back in the NFL for parts of his nine seasons.

The Oakland native who attended the University of California was the celebrity guest who opened the door for the Sharks as they rushed out of their dressing room and through the giant, smoking Sharks head to start the game.

And he rocked a BEAST MODE jersey:

Sharks

He joins an eclectic list thats included Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, former U.S. secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and Metallica singer James Hetfield.

The Anaheim Ducks never got around to signing 2010 draft pick Tim Heed to an entry-level deal, so the San Jose Sharks are taking advantage of his free agent status a few years later.

The Sharks have inked Heed, who recently finished up his third season with the SHLs Skelleftea AIK, to a one year deal with the club. h**l make $775,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 at the AHL level, with $200,000 guaranteed through the AHL contract and a signing bonus.

A native of Goteborg, Sweden, Heed is a former forward who switched to the blue line years ago but brought his offensive instincts with him to the back end of the lineup.

He finished his 2015-16 campaign with eight goals and 23 points in 52 games, and could see some of that translate to North America with the Sharks system next year.Although he signed a two year extension with AIK in the spring of 2015, it seems likely that the Sharks want him overseas with them this fall so expect that final year of his current deal to be terminated.

As the 2015 SHLs Salming Trophy winner for the leagues best defenseman, this is a smart and cheap pickup for the Sharks; the worst case scenario is that he doesnt pan out in his first year of North American hockey, and the best case is that hes a steal discovered by San Jose after the Ducks opted not to work things out with him a few years earlier. Either way, though, its a very low-risk move for the Pacific Division club, who are on the verge of the Stanley Cup Final this week with a 3-2 series lead over the St. Louis Blues.
