Melania Trump/Michelle Obama Speech Similarities
To say the least, it has been a busy two weeks in American politics. With the media andTV audiencesfixed ontopics includingthe future of the country, speechplagiarismand whos still feeling the Bern, therewas asartorial showdown that might have been overlooked. And no, this onedidntinvolve anyone wearing aHillary Clinton-stylepantsuit.
This fashion faceoff pittedlast weeksRepublican National Convention against this weeksDemocratic National Convention.
Melania Trump, wife of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and a former fashion model, appeared onstage in Clevelandto give her speech (which plagiarized First Lady Michelle Obamas 2008 speech at the Democratic convention).
According to fashion trade publication WWD, Trumpwore awhite, pouf-sleeved dressmade by London-basedand Serbian-borndesigner Roksanda Ilincic.

(Carolyn Cole / Los Angeles Times)As we reported last week, Trumps dress, according toWWD, looked like a white dress fromluxury e-tailer Net-a-Porter. The dress (or a very similar one)waslisted as the Margot, a sold-out $2,190ivory and cotton-silkfrockwith a nipped-in waist and dramatic bell sleeves in a contrasting basketweave.
And what do you know? U.S. Rep. Joyce Beatty of Ohio took the stage Thursday at the DemocraticNational Conventionin Philadelphia, wearing you guessed it a white, pouf-sleeved dress.

Orperhapsrevenge.
Well leave those answers tolate-night talk show hosts andpolitical pundits. For now, theres just one question to be asked.
