Dow Jones Industrial Average Falls to 17300 Support

Dow Jones 30 Week Forecast for the week of June 27 2016, Technical Analysis

Talking Points

-Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) fell towards a support zone near 17,300

-DJIA technical picture remains bullish for the time being

-Considering buying a dip above 16,500 in the void of program selling

In the wake of the Brexit vote calling for UK to leave the EU, global equities remain shaky as uncertainty pervades the market. While the European politicians sort through how to make the divorce happen, the market is left to ponder how messy it could be and what skeletons may be hiding in a closet. One such skeleton could be the fear of forced selling resulting from program investors adjusting to the increased volatility. Typically, as volatility increases, trade sizes decrease meaning algos might pare back their current positions. This forced selling continues the cycle of increased volatility. Though we dont know if the volatility will continue, it is a risk to be mindful of.

While navigating the volatile market, be mindful that leverage on trades exaggerates the markets movements. We urge low amounts of leverage or no leverage at all in these environments. (Read more about the effects of leverage in our Traits of Successful Traders research.)

Prior to the vote last week, we were considering a short position on ensuing rallies with an initial target towards 17,300. US30, a CFD which tracks the DJIA, is sitting in the zone of 17,300 with a current print of 17,250 as we write. So, what is next?

In times like these, it is important to take a step back and as best as possible, wipe the name off the chart and see what technical patterns may be evolving. As traders, we inherently bring a bias as to which direction we think US30 ought to go based on how weve processed the communication of what a Brexit means. Therefore, we need to neutralize as much of our bias as possible.

As we look at the technical picture for US30, one thing sticks out. We are only a few points off all-time highs. In fact, from the February 11, 2016 low to Fridays close, US30 hasnt retraced 38% of the previous uptrend which is quite shallow. I can appreciate how going into the vote, traders were expecting a Bremain and equities may have been bid up. However, the surprising Brexit result merely peeled away a couple of percentage points and the technical picture remains bullish for the time being.

Technical arguments for bulls:

-Price remains above the 200 Day Simple Moving Average

-Price has retraced less than 38% of the February 11 to April 20 up trend

-The move lower since April 20 appears to be a 3 wave correction (labeled a-b-c) suggesting the trend is still higher

In summary, these next couple of days will help set the mood. Technically, the picture is still bullish. Therefore, a void of program selling supports buying at cheaper levels. However, if program selling kicks in, that selling could spark another round volatility.

Holding above the February 11 low of 15,503 is critical to the bullish outlook. Below 16,070 will begin to show cracks in the bullish foundation. Below 16,070 could be an early warning signal of even deeper losses coming. Otherwise, consider buying dips above 16,500.

Caitlyn Jenner"s "Sports Illustrated" Cover Just Hit Newsstands

Caitlyn Jenner Covers Sports Illustrated, Talks Manhood and Sports

Caitlyn Jenner is the first o trans person to grace the cover ofSports Illustrated, revisiting

The transgender reality TV star and former athlete first graced the cover of Sports Illustrated after taking home the gold medal for the decathlon, a combined event involving 10 individual track and field events. Jenner, whobecame one of the first faces on Wheaties boxes, raked in sponsorships and interviews aplenty.

But her latest cover for the sports magazine.Since announcing her transition, Jenner has been shedding light on the trans community and starting conversations about a group too often excluded from the limelight.

Since her Vanity Fair coverin July, Jenner has gone on to film a reality series documenting her transition called I Am Cait and startedwriting a book with Friday Night Lightsauthor Buzz Bissinger. Coastal Carolina baseball draws No. 2 seed in Raleigh regional

BASEBALL - Coastal Carolina Highlights

After being disappointed Sunday night in not being named an NCAA regional host, the Coastal Carolina baseball team and its supporters gathered together Monday in anticipation to watch the full tournament selection show and learn where the Chanticleers will start what they hope is an extended postseason run.

Players, coaches, university officials and around 100 or so others packed into Handleys Pub & Grub in Carolina Forest and cheered when the ESPNU broadcast revealed the Chants will be a No. 2-seed in Raleigh, N.C., in a double-elimination regional that also includes host N.C. State, No. 3-seeded St. Marys and No. 4 Navy.

The No. 15-ranked Chants (44-15) will open the tournament Friday at 2 p.m. against St. Marys (33-23).

Im just excited to get the opportunity to play in the Raleigh regional. Obviously were disappointed that we cant host here at home, but well be ready to go up there and get after it, coach Gary Gilmore said.

Coastal Carolina, which swept the Big South regular-season and tournament titles, was hoping its No. 12 RPI and No. 7-rated non-conference strength of schedule would be enough to make it one of the 16 regional host sites for the first time since 2010. The Chants won their last 10 games and 31 of their last 37, but that momentum wasnt enough to sway the selection committee.

Five teams that finished behind the Chants in the RPI earned the right to host, including a Virginia team they beat early in the season.

By Monday, though, Gilmore said he and his team had moved on from that slight.

It was disappointing, nothing more. We have to be good people. Im disappointed only for the fact the kids had worked hard to do it and [we] very much wanted to showcase our stadium and our fans and the whole nine yards. But were okay, he said. ... Im not on the committee. Every team thats in it is deserving. I thought we were deserving as well. Its not an easy task what they do.

Said senior closer Mike Morrison: Thats out of our [control]. Were high right now, weve won 10 in a row, thats about all we can control. Regardless of where we go were going to be all right. Its honestly just exciting. We get to continue to play baseball. [For] a couple of us, we dont have much time left so to continue to play baseball is something special.

St. Marys, out of Moraga, Calif., won the West Coast Conference Championship over the weekend to earn its first ever NCAA regionals berth.

The Gaels top pitcher is 6-foot-3 junior right-hander Corbin Burnes, who boasts a 9-1 record, 2.23 earned-run average, .208 opponents batting average and 112 strikeouts (against 31 walks) in 97 innings.

Offensively they are led by sophomore Zach Kirtley (.326 batting average, 7 home runs, 43 RBIs), sophomore Joey Fiske (.310, 17 stolen bases), senior Anthony Gonsolin (.304-6-25) and senior Anthony Villa (.297-7-39).

place_quote1

The Chants and Gaels have never met in baseball. Coastal Carolina has played regional host N.C. State 27 times, including a 13-10 win by the Wolfpack back in February.

Gilmore only wanted to focus on his teams first obstacle, though.

We play St. Marys so Im not worried about N.C. State right now, to be honest with you, he said. If we look ahead well be in the losers bracket, I can tell you that right now. Even though theyre a West Coast team and whatever, theyll play a style [of] baseball that will really challenge us.

Overall, this marks the Chants 14th regionals appearance in the last 16 seasons. They were also a No. 2 seed last year in the College Station, Texas., regional where they went 1-2.

That was a much different team, though. By that point injuries had cost the Chants their top two starting pitchers and their power-hitting catcher.

This Coastal Carolina team comes in fully equipped with a healthy pitching staff and an offense ranked second in the NCAA Division I with 89 home runs.

Last year, that was an incredibly hard regional. All of the prognosticators said it was the toughest one in the country, and there was no doubt with the talent that [of] those four teams, Gilmore said. ... Its not like this is going to be easy, I can promise you that. But at least we match up personnel-wise with these teams probably better than what we did last year.

After all the suspense and waiting the last couple days to learn their postseason draw, the Chants are just ready to turn their focus toward their next challenge now.

A lot of predictions and stuff beforehand, but you never really know where youre going to go, senior right fielder Connor Owings said. Were heading to Raleigh with a very good N.C. State team. We got matched up with St. Marys, I dont really know much about them, but I assume theyre a very good team, so were going to get ready for them and hope for the best.

"Why Are You Here?": EU Official Asks Nigel Farage During Emergency Meeting in Brussels

Nigel Farage Things are looking pretty good

As Britain reels from the aftershock of its decision to withdraw from the European Union, Nigel Farage, one of the most vocal Brexit advocates, insulted EU officials on Tuesday by saying they were in denial and that they had "never had a proper job before."

"The reason you"re so upset, the reason you"re so angry, has been perfectly clear from all the angry exchanges this morning," he told EU leaders during an emergency meeting in Brussels.

"You, as a political project, are in denial. You are in denial that your currency is failing."

Farage"s remarks, which apparently ignored the British pound"s precipitous decline in the wake of Thursday"s referendum, drew loud jeers from members of the EU Parliament, with one of the sharpest attacks coming from European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker:

Following the emergency session, Farage took a moment to congratulate himself for his speech, further highlighting parallels between him and master self-promoter Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president.

The clashes on Tuesday come amid calls from EU officials for Britain to exit from the European Union swiftly, so as to stem any further international and economic uncertainty in the aftermath of the unprecedented vote. British Prime Minister David Cameron has insisted his successor should be in place to manage the transition when he steps down from office in October. Brexit leaders, however, have resisted, saying there was "no need for haste" after the vote.

Delta passengers witness heroic act by Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow Leads Prayer After In-Flight Emergency

Several Delta Air Lines customers are saluting former football player and SEC Network analyst Tim Tebow along with the Delta crew after they witnessed them running to another passenger"s aid in the middle of a flight.

This is just a week after Tebow visited his former teammate who was wounded in the Orlando shootings.

Richard Gotti told the story on his Facebook page. He was traveling from Atlanta to Phoenix when a man began having obvious heart problems.

"Then all of a sudden, I observed a guy walking down the aisle. That guy was Tim Tebow. He met with the family as they cried on his shoulder! I watched Tim pray with the entire section of the plane for this man," Gotti said on Facebook.

A flight attendant also said they witnessed Tebow leave his first class seat to run to the aid of the concerned passenger.

Another woman captured a photo of Tebow assessing the situation and posted it to Instagram:

A Delta spokesperson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they were happy to hear their flight crew also acted in such a timely manner.
