Red Hot Chili Peppers" Anthony Kiedis Took a Break From "Car Pool Karaoke" to Save a Baby"s Life

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication [Official Music Video]

Somewhere between not stopping and being addicted to the shindig, Anthony Kiedis says he performed an incredible humanitarian feat while shooting for James Cordens Late Late Show.

In an interview with Radio X host Chris Moyles, the Red Hot Chili Peppers singer said he helped revive a baby that had stopped breathing simply by rubbing its belly. Kiedis and Corden had just filmed a dance-off (which didnt make the episodes final cut) when a woman came out of her house holding a baby, shouting that it couldnt breathe.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Wrestle, Undress & Blast the Hits for James Corden"s "Carpool Karaoke": Watch

We all ran across the street, the lady thrust her baby into my arms, the baby was not breathing, and I thought, Im gonna try and do a little baby CPR real quick, see if I can get some air in this kid, Kiedis explained on the radio show. I tried to open the mouth, [it was] locked shut. So I started rubbing the belly, bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place.

Just after that, he says an ambulance showed up and the whole group returned to filming their "Car Pool Karaoke" segment. You know, just a little civilian duty in the middle of creating some viral content.

Argentina vs. Bolivia Copa America Predictions, Preview, Schedule, Live Stream As Messi Looks to Continue Dominating

Argentina vs Bolivia 3-0 EXTENDED 14/6/2016 ■ HD

First Posted: Jun 12, 2016 04:20 PM EDT

Argentina looks to lock up the top spot in Group D when it faces Bolivia on Tuesday in the Copa America.

This game is only really important for Argentina and even then the team might not have to put in its best shift. Thanks to two victories, Argentina has already clinched a spot in the next round. The fact that it won 5-0 in its recent game against Panama means that the team would need to see Chile win by a massive margin to walk away with the top spot in Group D.

Bolivia meanwhile has nothing to play for, losing against Chile in the 10thminute (!) of stoppage time in its game on Friday. It was the second straight game in which the team faltered late in the game and wound up losing 2-1.

Messi the Great

Argentina"s big story in its 5-0 win was the return of captain Lionel Messi. Messi was arguably the most hyped aspect of this entire tournament with American fans scouring Soldiers Field just to see the Barcelona legend and arguably best player in the world come to play. He did not feature in the Chile game on Monday though it was expected that he would factor into this game.

Coach Gerardo Martino opted for leaving him on the bench to start the game and bring him on later to potentially put the game away. He did just that, scoring two goals in 20 minutes and eventually adding a hat trick before he had played for 30 minutes on the field. As if that was not enough, he made a brilliant long range pass that set up the final Argentina goal.

It is possible that Messi winds up resting up in the Bolivia game as well. With nothing on the line, Messi could start on the bench or be subbed off once Argentina is in control of the result it desires. Messi has a ton of mileage, as does most of this Argentina side, having contested two finals in the last two summers. If it intends on a similar run, the team needs to rest its top stars.

Player to Watch

After the performance he gave on Friday, Messi is undeniably the man to keep an eye out for. He is a man on a mission and he clearly wants to add some Argentina trophy to his cabinet and get rid of the label of choke artist for his country. If he plays the way he did in the Panama game, then Argentina will have no trouble in this match.

History Favors Argentina

Argentina has dominated Bolivia throughout their histories, winning 26 contests, drawing five and only losing six. Argentina is currently on a three-game winning streak against Bolivia, with all three victories coming in the last year; the aggregate score for those games has been 14-0.

Prediction

Argentina continues its strong display, destroying Bolivia 4-0.

Start Time and Streaming Info

The game starts at 10 p.m. and can be viewed on either Fox Sports 1 or Univision. Those with a FuboTV subscription can also catch the action on their mobile devices.

Director Dan Trachtenberg talks about the divisive 10 Cloverfield Lane reception

10 Cloverfield Lane - movie review

Pulling off one of the coolest cinematic surprises in years, Bad Robot and Paramount revealed in January 2016 that the spiritual successor to Cloverfield would be landing in theaters in less than two months. Kept under complete wraps aside from its shoot code name of Valencia and a cast list featuring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher Jr., 10 Cloverfield Lane, at the very least, allowed genre fans to ingest a movie without the standard year-long marketing blitz that usually obliterates all sense of discovery.

Director Dan Trachtenberg certainly delivered a smartthriller that deftly transitioned from a dark character exploration into a last-act blast of sci-fi thrills that firmly committed the story to the still enigmatic Cloverfield mythology. It"s quite the directorial debut from Trachtenberg, who prior was known for his commercial work and the short filmPortal: No Escape.

Three months after the whirlwind release of 10 Cloverfield Lane (now available on Blu-ray and digitally), Trachtenberg talks to Blastr about the benefits of shooting the film in narrative order, initial audience reactions and whether there are more Cloverfield anthology stories in his future.

When the script was offered with the Cloverfield connection embedded in it, did that give you some creative pause considering this would be the official followup (in a way) to the original?

The movie didn"t have the titleyet, so it didn"t dawn on me. It was Cloverfield in the fabric of it, but I never thought that I"m making Cloverfield 2. If that was the title, I probably would have found it quite intimidating, orit might have fueled the fire to make something even more fresh. It could have gone both ways. But the thing that was exciting is that Cloverfield was a very unique take on a very familiar genre. The thing I loved most about this [script] is that the structure is very unique.

Was there a concern about how audiences would react to that last act and its vague monster connections?

I knew it would be incredibly divisive, and some people would hate the movie for what it is. And I knew some people would love it for what it is. If you like a ride, it would be a one-of-a-kind experience for you, and I loved the idea of making something that could be special like that. Those are the movie memories that I treasure, so that excited me much more than intimidated me.

There"s a split in the film from this taut, claustrophobic thriller to an all-out monster film in the last act. What side scared you more, and which did you have to prepare for most?

The latter stuff comes very easily to me, as my imagination likes to be fueled by that and will devise the sequences very quickly. We did more pre-viz for it, so in one way it was easier than the challenge of looking at a block of non-verbal scene descriptions and figuring out the best way to make it taut and exciting. But then, ironically, we changed a lot of our ending in terms of practical, logistical set-piece stuff. We couldn"t do a lot of things we wanted to do, initially, so we had to re-imagine a lot of sequences when practicality struck. It"s funny:Shooting was all one mode on a soundstage, and suddenly we were outside and it"s like we"re making a totally different thing. From a production standpoint, it was a very interesting experience.

The film was shot it in order of the script, which is really rare. As your first feature length film, was it more to help you, or was it mainly for the actors and their continuity?

It was both. It was really helpful because you"re always wondering what"s the truth, and how we feel about one character in one section is different than another section. To go in order was essential so that we could always be in one headspace at one time, and not swapping back and forth. It also allowed the visual grammar, the way the movie was shot, to really feed off of itself. If we establish the way a scene felt, or was covered, from the get-go, we could then have visual pay-offs later. If we went out of order, scenes wouldn"t fit. So, we took full advantage of shooting in order.

Your editor, Stefan Grube. was on-site with you, which must have been really helpful.

As we were shooting, it was amazing to have Stefan, my editor there. Shooting in order and shooting so much in one location meant the next day we could go back and do pick-ups. If we had wrapped a location, it would have been much more challenging.

What was the hardest sequence to get right?

The most challenging scenes were Michelle"s arcs: The opening with Michelle and the middle confession scene with Michelle talking through the wall with Emmett. It was all about, when are we saying too much? It wasn"t about how they were shot, but story-wise. Process-wise, it wasn"t challenging for Mary and I and everyone. It really was from the fabric of the story perspective, asking, when are we saying too much or too little in the opening and middle because we were desperate for the ending to land. We wanted it to be as cathartic and exciting as we all felt it was, and would be, so earning that final decision was tricky.

You basically directed a three-person play. With the caliber of actors you had, how did you establish a rapport? Was it via a long rehearsal period?

We had a very luxurious rehearsal period of a week in the location, in the rooms, so it put the scenes on their feet. It was totally terrific. A lot of that process is getting a chance to pre-block a scene for the actors to see where they might want to go in the space. But the work is really through conversation. It was chatting with [the actors] and talking about the way those moments might feel for them, and for me. It was also for my cinematographer and I to have a sense of what we might want it to feel like. When we"re seeing them rehearse, we get to see their instincts. It helped immensely.

Was it a tough shoot working in those close confines?

It was a really pleasant experience! The movie was really intense but the making of it was really fun. We laughed a lot.

Michelle (as played by Winstead)was such a refreshing, smart heroine. Are there more stories being discussed that continue after her film ending decision?

We talked about what her story might become even before we shot the story. She"s always been in our minds, and certainly what this character could eventually go through is something we"re all turned on by. It"s always been a part of our discussion, but who knows.

What"s next for you? Will you stay in the Cloverfield anthology world with another story, or do something else?

I"ve quite a few irons in the fire. I"m in Los Angeles doing an episode of [Netflix"s] Black Mirror right now. It"s very awesome. There are some movies I worked on before 10 Cloverfield that I am returning to, and some new ones I"m interested in, so there"s lots of stuff I would be stoked to do. Certainly, more of Michelle"s story would be awesome as well, and all of it is on the table for me.

"People v. O.J. Simpson" Director Reveals Why He Didn"t "Talk to Anyone Living" Who Was Involved With the Case

The O. J. Simpson Trial: Drama of the Century (2015)

They say that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. If that"s true, Anthony Hemingway is on permanent vacation. He has directed more than two dozen films and TV series, from ER to The Wire to Shameless to Orange Is the New Black to Underground. It"s an eclectic group of projects, but every time he tackles something new, says Hemingway, he begins by finding a way to "advance progress and provide a contribution to the world." THR spoke with the veteran about his personal, passionate approach to directing, including his acclaimed work on half of the episodes of FX"s The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

What was the most challenging thing about The People v. O.J. Simpson?

It was definitely the writing, figuring out what parts of the story to tell. There was way more than 10 hours there, so we really had to figure out the story and what our intent and purpose were. We also needed to show sensitivity toward the story because two people died. We made a decision to not talk to anyone living who had been a part of it. We knew the story we were telling and wanted to just get our grounding and foundation right.

When do you feel like you hit your stride with the limited series?

It falls between episodes three and four, both of which really represented what the show was about balancing the tragedy and high drama and absurd comedy of the trial. It"s great any time I get an opportunity to use storytelling to connect with people and make the project really relatable to those around me. Entertainment softens the blow and draws you in, but hopefully it"s the story you"re telling that has people walk away feeling affected by what they saw.

What would you say these episodes were really about then?

Episode three was the unraveling of certainty. Marcia Clark had so much evidence, more than she"d ever had in a double murder. For her, it seemed this [case] would be a slam dunk. Then the defense started throwing jabs at her, and I loved that we could show what happened even though Marcia didn"t see it coming. It was interesting to get the opportunity to really dive deep into these characters you thought you knew. With the third episode, we really got to show how dealing with their jobs distorted the personal lives of those involved.

Some of the actors from the series praised the way you"d keep everyone loose while shooting the courtroom scenes. You played music. You had people dancing. Why?

I love fostering a happy environment in the workplace. We have enough adversity and hardship in life, so I don"t want to dwell on them. Everyone loves music and a good time.

What is the thing about being a director that you appreciate the most?

It"s definitely my passion to find ways I can help advance progress and provide a contribution to the world. I use these opportunities to examine my own point of view. For me, People v. O.J. Simpson was an opportunity to examine race and culture in America. And that we haven"t made much progress. It gave us the chance to shine a light on the problems, ring a bell and sound the alarm, speak loudly to get people paying attention.

Two of Hemingways projects this season dealt with race in America: WGN Americas Underground (right) and FXs The People v. O.J. Simpson.
