Officials release initial list of Orlando nightclub shooting victims" names, ages

Trump Jr. on the Clintons: Americans see the phoniness

EDITOR"S NOTE: Orlando"s mayor on Monday revised the death toll in the nightclub shooting to 49, from 50. The 50th body was identified as gunman Omar Mateen.

As Omar Mateen swept the interior of Pulse nightclub in Orlando with gunfire, 30-year-old Eddie Justice sought shelter in a bathroom. Somehow, amid the chaos, he was able to text his mother, Mina.

"Mommy I love you. In club they shooting," one message read. About 30 minutes later, he texted: "He"s coming. I"m gonna die."

"Still here in bathroom," he wrote at 2:46 a.m. "He has us. They [police] need to come get us."

Early Monday, Justice was confirmed to be among the 50 people killed in the worst mass shooting in modern American history, as city officials began releasing the names and ages of victims whose next of kin had been notified.

As of early Monday, 21 of the victims" identities, including that of Justice, had been posedon a city website. The other 20 confirmed victims are:

-- Edward Sotomayor Jr., 34

-- Stanley Almodovar III, 23

-- Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo, 20

-- Juan Ramon Guerroro, 22

-- Eric Ivan Ortiz-Rivera, 36

-- Peter O. Gonzalez-Cruz, 22

-- Luis S. Vielma, 22

-- Kimberly Morris, 37

--Darryl Roman Burt II, 29

--Deonka Deidra Drayton, 32

--Alejandro Barrios Martinez, 21

--Anthony Luis Laureanodisla, 25

--Jean Carlos Mendez Perez, 35

--Franky Jimmy Dejesus Velazquez, 50

--Amanda Alvear, 25 years old

--Martin Benitez Torres, 33 years old

--Luis Daniel Wilson-Leon, 37 years old

--Mercedez Marisol Flores, 26 years old

--Xavier Emmanuel Serrano Rosado, 35 years old

--Gilberto Ramon Silva Menendez, 25 years old

Sotomayor, 34, was a caring, energetic man known for wearing a silly top hat on cruises, David Sotomayor, who identified himself as the victim"s cousin, told the Associated Press.

David Sotomayor, who lives in Chicago, told the AP on Sunday that Edward worked for a company that held gay cruises and often traveled to promote the company"s events.

The two discovered they were related after meeting at Orlando"s annual Gay Days festival around a decade ago. They texted regularly and kept in touch, last seeing each other earlier this year at a filming of the television reality show "RuPaul"s Drag Race," David Sotomayor said.

"You never think that"s going to be the last time you speak to him," David Sotomayor told the AP. "It"s just heartbreaking to know it just can happen anytime."

Juan Ramon Guerrero, 22, had told his cousin Robert Guerrero, that he was gay about two years ago but he was worried about how the rest of his family would react so he did not tell them until just before the beginning of this year. And when he did? "They were very accepting," said Guerrero, 19. "As long as he was happy, they were OK with it."

On Sunday morning, after learning that so many people had died at the nightclub that his cousin had gone to once in a while, Guerrero started to become concerned. Later in the day, his fears were realized when the family learned that Guerrero was identified as one of the victims.

Robert Guerrero said his cousin worked as a telemarketer and in recent months he started attending college at the University of Central Florida. Guerrero said his cousin didn"t quite know what he wanted to study, but he was happy to be in school. And he was happy in a relationship with a person his relatives came to regard as a member of the family, Guerrero said.

"He was always this amazing person (and) he was like a big brother to me," he said of his cousin. "He was never the type to go out to parties, would rather stay home and care for his niece and nephew."

Stanley Almodovar III"s mother had prepared a tomato-and-cheese dip for him to eat when he came home from his night out.

Instead, Rosalie Ramos was awakened by a call at 2 a.m. Sunday telling her something had happened.

Ramostold the Orlando Sentinelher son, a 23-year-old pharmacy technician, posted a Snapchat video of himself singing and laughing on his way to Pulse nightclub.

"I wish I had that (video) to remember him forever," she told the newspaper.

A friend, Hazel Ramirez, told the Washington Post she also saw a video from Almodovar on Snapchat and learned Sunday afternoon what had happened.

Ramirez described Almodovar as "kind, but sassy," and someone who was comfortable with his own sexual identity.

"He was so proud of who he was," she told the Post. "He would do his makeup better than anyone else. It was so easy to be myself with him.

Kimberly Morris had taken a job as a bouncer at Pulse after moving to Orlando some months ago.

"She was so excited," ex-girlfriend Starr Shelton told the Sentinel. "She"d just started working there and told me how she was thrilled to get more involved in the LGBT community there," Shelton said.

"I can"t think of a time when I did not see a smile on her face," friend Narvell Benning told the Sentinel. "I"m so thankful of the good memories I have of her. This is just unreal."

Luis Vielma worked at Universal Studios" Wizarding World of Harry Potter.High school friend Eddi Anderson told theTampa Bay Timesthat Vielma loved his job and was known for his pleasant attitude and warm demeanor.

"He was always a friend you could call," co-worker Josh Boesch told the Sentinel. "He was always open and available."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Brazil vs Peru 0-1 2016 RESUMEN GOLES All Goals Copa America Centenario Brasil vs Peru 2016 HD

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Brazil and Peru have to fight for their lives while Ecuador have a cake walk against Haiti

The Group A chapter is closed. The USA have unbelievably topped their group following an impressive 3-2 win from Costa Rica over Colombia that sees the favorites drop into the second slot. Who they face in the quaterfinals will depend on the results from todays Group B matches.

But none of the Group B teams can afford to be complacent to force an advantageous quarterfinal match as theyre still locked in a fight just to survive their group.

Brazil vs Peru

Location: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA

Time: 8:30pm local/ET

Peru has a chance and its name is Christian Cueva. Hes their talisman and hes the only shot Peru has to make it out of the group stage. They need 5 points and massive goal tally to skip past Ecuador so only a win will do. The same applies to Brazil where Philippe Coutinhos hat trick in Brazils 7-1 win over Haiti, but they could settle for a draw depending on how the earlier game shakes out.

Ecuador vs Haiti

Location: Metlife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ

Time: 6:30pm local/ET

Ecuador are really in the driving seat as their final group phase match sees them pitted against Haiti who are the group punching bags. If they can better Haiti by at least two goals the pressure is on Peru to find a way to advance. They need huge games from their midfield and especially from Enner Valencia.

Party in Pittsburgh: Penguins fans celebrate Stanley Cup

Gotta See It: Penguins celebrate after winning Stanley Cup

The Pittsburgh Penguins, despite a dominant performance in Game 5, couldnt clinch the Stanley Cup on home ice.

It had been more than 50 years since a major Pittsburgh sports franchise won a championship at home. The Penguins had their chance, but Martin Jones stood in their way. The anticipation had been growing and growing, as a second big screen TV had been added to accommodate excited Pittsburgh fans for that game. Heck, the city of Pittsburgh even re-named a street for one day at least after goalie Matt Murray.

While they couldnt win it all at home, the Penguins went back to San Jose and lifted the Cup following a Game 6 victory over the Sharks.

Thousands of miles back east, fans in Pittsburgh celebrated the teams second Stanley Cup in eight years. More than 16,000 fans packed the CONSOL Energy Center to witness the victory.

The noise this crowd is making is indescribable. #Pens

Battlefield, Titanfall sequels anchor EA"s pre-E3 show

LIVE E3 2016: Conferenza Bethesda

Titanfall 2.

LOS ANGELESThough Electronic Arts officially dropped out of the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year, its press conference presentation at the EA Play event felt a lot like a standard E3 presentation.

The event started off with new footage from Titanfall 2, which now comes with the single-player focused campaign its predecessor lacked (including a talking Titan voiced by Optimus Prime himself, Peter Cullen). The new game features six new giant walking titans, a "deep progression system," and a grappling hook that can be used to launch yourself right into a Titan cockpit or grab an enemy out of the sky. The game is available on October 28.

Battlefield 1

We also got more information about Battlefield 1, the previously announced military history shooter set in an alternate history version of World War I. EA promised that "destruction is more intuitive and natural than ever" in the game, and it highlighted the ability to take control of "behemoth" vehicles like air ships, armored trains, and entire battleships. A dynamic weather system withrain, fog, and blinding sunlight will also feature prominently.

Electronic Arts continues to make the most of its recently acquired Star Wars license, announcing three new upcoming titles from its biggest studios. There weren"t too many details, but what was announced can be had in this report.

An alien from Mass Effect Andromeda.

Speaking of space-based games, we got a few more hints about Bioware"s Mass Effect Andromeda, which was recently pushed back to an early 2017 release. A new "behind the scenes look" at the game provided brief glimpses of gameplay and scenery, but it was largely indistinguishable from previous games in the series. EA did promise "new planets, new species, and new technologies" in a galaxy where "you are the alien," as well as "more freedom then we"ve ever given players in a Mass Effect game." More details were promised for the fall.

Fe

It wasn"t all big-budget blockbusters. EA announces a new, indie-focused "Originals" initiative that would help small developers with things like marketing and funding while letting those developers keep the bulk of profits for themselves. The first game shown off as part of the program was Fe, an intriguing open world where you control a small cub looking to survive in a virtual forest, using "stealth and cunning" to outsmart "the silent ones." The game"s striking, minimalist visual style made it stand out in a presentation full of attempts at hyper-realism.

And, as always, there were updates to EA"s usual sports titles. FIFA now features a number of English Premier League managers, as well as a new story-heavy "Journey" mode that follows a single player working his way up the ranks of pro soccer (more on that in our full report). And newly named Chief Competitive Officer Peter Moore was on hand to stress a three-tiered e-sports structure for Madden, from "Challenger" events for any members of the community and "Major" events for top pro players.
