Noah Syndergaard ejected after throwing pitch behind Chase Utley

Noah Syndergaard 2016 April Highlights

New York Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard was ejected in the third inning of Saturday night"s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers for throwing a pitch that sailed behind Chase Utley.

The 99-mph fastball was assumed to be retaliation for Utley"s take-out slide on Ruben Tejada during last season"s NLDS, the result of which broke Tejada"s leg.Home plate umpire Adam Harami wasted no time signaling that Syndergaard"s night was over.He also ejected Mets" manager Terry Collins, who vehemently argued his decision.

[Related:Report: Mets unhappy with Dodgers defensive positioning tactics]

Syndergaard"s complete intentions were unclear, but it is safe to assume he at least wanted to send a message. The league will now have to decide if he meant to hit Utley with that message, or if he simply wanted to make Utley uncomfortable.

Based on his history, it was probably the latter. Syndergaard also famously buzzed Kansas City"s Alcides Escobar with a head-high fastball on the first pitch in Game 3 of the World Series. Syndergaard wanted to set the tonethat night by ending the trend of Escobar swinging at the game"s first pitch. The message was received, and that would be the only game New York won in the series.

As for Saturday, Syndergaard flatly denied there was any intent behind his pitch, which comes as no big surprise.

We"re going to guess the league will disagree. It shouldn"t be a steep punishment, but this is something baseball wants to clean up.

Also worth noting, Mets manager Terry Collins also refused to admit that Syndegaard"s pitch was intentional. More telling though might be his comment that followed.

That would indicate Collins and company may have thought was a freebie was due, but that wasn"t the case on Saturday.

Regardless of his intentions, Syndergaard still left the field to a hero"s cheer form a raucous crowd at Citi Field. The fans were already hyped from celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1986 World Series championship team. The animosity of baseball"s newest and hottest rivalry only fueled them more.

Unfortunately for the Mets, it also seemed to fuel Utley. It his next at-bat against Logan Verrett, he crushed a solo home run that opened the game"s The next inning, Utley stepped up with the bases loaded and launched a grand slam. The Dodgers went on to win the game 9-1, so it"s safe to say they got the final word on a volatile evening at Citi Field.

Trump weirdness in Fresno: Latinos who love him, police who charm the protesters

Kate Beckinsale On ‘Love & Friendship,’ Reuniting With Chloë Sevigny | TODAY

After listening to Donald Trump charm his audience for almost an hour Whos gonna pay for the wall? I waded into the crowd at the Selland Arena to find Latino supporters.

Who were these people, exactly, who could vote for a man who has called Mexicans rapists and murderers, who insulted the Republican Latina governor of New Mexico, who tweeted I love Hispanics as he ate a taco bowl at his desk on Cinco de Mayo?

Turns out, they are people like Elena Pineda, 81, and her daughter Mary Jennings, 57, both dressed head to toe in red, white and blue. Theyd taped photos of Trump in his Make America Great Again baseball cap to their own little top hats. Compounding the fashioninsult,Helen wore a campaign button featuring a cat with a Trump comb-over. It said The Time is Meow.

My family stopped speaking to me because I was supporting Donald Trump from the beginning, said Jennings, a retired law enforcement officer. Im conservative, a registered Republican. Its always been a bone of contention in my family.

His rhetoric about Mexicans doesnt bother you, I asked?

Its about illegal aliens! Jennings said. Mom and I cant go to Canada and just squat and get benefits. We couldnt go to Mexico either without the proper paperwork. Theyd put us in jail!

See the most-read stories this hour >>

I also met Alicia Aderhold, 39, an office manager in Tulare whose family grows cherries, olives and oranges. Aderhold has four kids, two of whom are in college. They support Bernie Sanders, whos running for the Democratic presidential nomination.

You know what I like about Trump? she said. Hes for the farmers. And building that wall.

I noted that farm workers are the lifeblood of this states agriculture industry. (Even the most conservative estimates say that at least half of Californias million-plus farmworkers are here illegally.)

Im Mexican, Aderhold said, and I understand that Mexicans do the farm labor, but there are a lot of legal ones. Thats how they should do it, the way my parents did.

In that case, good luck in a Trump administration to all the lettuce growers in Salinas. They cant find enough people to pick their crops even now.

Outside the arena, it was easy to find Latinos who take a far dimmer view of Trump. Polls, after all, show that he is viewed negatively by ayuuuuge majority of Latino voters.

Practically the first person I bumped into was Daniel Ortiz, a 66-year-old retired truck driver from Selma.

He carried a homemade sign featuring a photo of Trump altered to look like Adolf Hitler. It said, FU Trump and Anything can happen if you dont vote.

Hes an idiot, Ortiz said. His rhetoric, his hate, the plain stupidness of it. You know what this Valley would do without farmworkers? This Valleydepends on Latino farmworkers.

Nearby, Aleisa Rodriguez, a college student, was holding a sign with a hand-painted p**p emoji. It was swarming with flies and featured a Trumpian swoosh of hair. No slogan necessary.

Paul Garcia, 52, was dressed in khaki fatigues, and wore a beret. He held a Mexican flag in one hand and a Stop Trump Hate sign in the other. Hes a teacher and an activist, he said, and a member of the Brown Berets, a Chicano nationalist organization that promotes peace and unity in our barrios.

I asked him whether carrying a Mexican flag didnt just play into Trumps harsh rhetoric about illegal immigration.

Not at all, he said. He does it because hes proud of his heritage, and hes proud of the longstanding relationship between Mexico and the U.S. Also, it tweaks many Trump supporters.

Mona Llamas, 47, brought her two teenage children to the protest because she believes that Trumps nationalism is dangerous, and underpinned by racism.

Her sign caught my eye. It had photos of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who has been mocked by Trump for claiming to have Native American ancestry. Im with Pocahontas, it said.

Llamas, whose family owns car dealerships, said she has trouble understanding why Trump has even a modicum of Latino support.

Its almost what I call social schizophrenia, she said. Thats when you should understand that this movement is so totally against your own interest, however, you dont have the common sense, the self-worth or the knowledge to see things the way they are.

A block away, at M Street and Ventura Avenue, a few dozen protesters in the intersection refused to leave. On a bullhorn, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer asked them to move.

They refused.

The chief assembled a skirmish line of 50 or so cops clad in black riot gear. Over the course of a couple hours, in the 90-degree heat, the line advanced very slowly. The chief kept asking people to disperse. He walked up to protesters, put his hand on their backs, said theyd be arrested if they didnt move. He wasnt pleading exactly, but almost.

We are going to be very patient and wait for these individuals to leave, he told me. The individuals who were sitting in the roadway, I personally went up to each one of them and said, I want to give you an opportunity to stand up because this is an unlawful assembly.

A few yards away, a 38-year-old protester named Eddie Garcia was on his own bullhorn. Our job is done, said Garcia, who once studied for the priesthood. Lets go home. G*d bless.

Kids on the sidewalk started yelling at Garcia go ahead, leave but they planned to stay.

I traveled from Los Banos to be here, and I am not ready to go, said Katrina Ruiz, 32, who had a quiet conversation with Garcia. People are still upset about Donald Trumps xenophobia and racism. I think the cops are itching for a fight with us.

As elders, we say weve accomplished what we want here, then you move on, said Andres Fierro, 47, who stood with Garcia. Maybe the young generation is not aware of what happens when you hang around and egg on the police. But look at Chief Dyer. Hes walking around talking one-on-one. He let people voice their anger and displeasure. Hes shown a lot of restraint.

The Trump rally had started at 10 a.m. By 3 p.m., the police had pushed the few protesters who remained to the end of the block. A group of half a dozen or so young Latino men still were facing the skirmish line. It wasnt hostile, exactly, but they did not want to leave. Still, each time the officers advanced, they stepped back to avoid arrest.

Eventually, Dyer came up to chat. He shook their hands, asked whetherthey needed a ride.

Im done protesting, said Benjamin Juarez, 20. I just want to go home.

OK, go ahead, said the chief, letting Juarez walk back toward the arena on the street the police had just cleared. Have a good day.

Salling, 33, allegedly used the Internet to receive a still image and a video of young girls on December 26, 2015, according to a two-count indictment returned to a grand jury, the U.S. Attorneys Office for the Central District of California said in a news release.

Those who download and possess child p*********y create a market that causes more children to be harmed, said United States Attorney Eileen M. Decker. Young victims are harmed every time an image is generated, every time it is distributed, and every time it is viewed.

A resident of the San Fernando ValleysShadow Hills neighborhood, the actoris also officiallyaccused of possessing two videos that show child p*********y on December 29, the statement said.

In 2015, authoritiesseized a laptop, hard drive and USB flash drive from Sallings home that contained thousands of images and videos of child p*********y, according to the press release. That material is still under investigation.

Through his attorney, Salling has agreed to turn himself in to federal authorities on June 3, prosecutors said. He is expected to be arraigned on that day.

The traditional stereotype about the kinds of people who commit child sexual exploitation crimes simply doesnt dovetail with reality, said Special Agent in Charge Joseph Macias of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements Los Angeles field office. As our investigators can attest, the defendants in child p*********y cases come in all ages and from all walks of life.

Salling portrayed Noah Puck Puckerman in 96 episodes of Glee from 2009 to 2015, according to IMDB.com. He also appeared in the filmsRocky Road and Glee: the 3D Concert Movie.

Mexico vs. Paraguay: Marquez ready to make the most of "great opportunity"

Mexico vs Paraguay 2016 1-0 GOL Y RESUMEN Partido Amistoso 2016

Rafael Marquez is hoping Mexico can take advantage of the "great opportunity" ahead as El Tri step up preparations for the Copa America Centenario with a friendly versusParaguay.

Mexico is unbeaten in its last 17 games and will look to build momentum after receiving an invitationto the Copa America for the 10th straight tournament.

El Tri have reached the final in 1993 and 2001 and will be expected to progress from the group stage at the 100th anniversary tournament, having beendrawn alongside Uruguay, Venezuela and Jamaica in Group C.

Ahead of Saturday"s warm-up with 2011 runner-up Paraguay at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, captain Marquez believes Juan Carlos Osorio"s side has its best chance of winning the competition for the first time.

COPA AMERICA: Top 10 U-21 player to watch | Stars of each team | TV schedule

"We have a great opportunity [to win it], but we have to take it game by game," said Marquez, who has been capped 129 times by Mexico. "It is going to take a lot of work, because there are a lot of other national teams with a lot of quality. Within the team there is a commitment of wanting to win, to fight with everything and make the final of the competition."

Paraguay has been handed a tougher possible route through to the quarterfinals, with Ramon Diaz"s men pitted against the U.S., Colombia and Costa Rica in Group A.

Their recent record in the competition is impressive, following up on their run to the final five years ago when Paraguay was beaten 3-0 by Uruguay with a fourth-place finish in Chile last year.

With just one win in the last five games, Paraguay is not in the best vein of form. But winger Edgar Benitez is relishing the opportunity to impress at a major tournament and says the entire squad is ready to prove its worth on the international stage.

"There is not one player who wants to miss out on this tournament or who refuses to play for the national team," Benitez said. "In our country there are few opportunities to draw attention from abroad, and if we want a better way of life, we have to take advantage of the international spotlight."

Bismack Biyombo reminds Kevin Love it"s important to know your limitations

LeBron James says Kevin Love & Kyrie Irving will always be involved for Cleveland Cavaliers

Don"t try to dunk on one of the best shot-blockers in the NBA if posterizing players isn"t your game.

One of my favorite Drake songs is called "Know Yourself" from his 2015 album If You"re Reading This It"s Too Late. The title is self-explanatory: Drake raps about the virtues of being honest with oneself while chiding his invisible competitors for posturing as something they"re not. It"s an ode to knowing one"s limitations and strengths, then discovering greatness within that knowledge.

This is important because we have to ask an important question: What the h**l was Kevin Love thinking trying to dunk on Bismack Biyombo?

Ambition is an immense thing that has the power to help or harm. Combine it with the necessary talent, work and luck, and you could become one of the best basketball players in the world. Maybe you"ll even find yourself competing in the Eastern Conference Finals one day.

But when mixed with folly, ambition can kill. Just ask Icarus.

I understand that Kevin Love is ambitious. He should be because he"s a gifted and accomplished professional athlete with multiple All-Star appearances to his name. But let"s be sensible here. That"s Bismack Biyombo under the rim.

Biyombo is a walking college rejection letter -- the kind that makes you ashamed for even applying. The one where you can almost hear the laughter in the admissions office when the workers used your application as an example of dumb people not knowing their place. He was only class president for three years. Let"s laugh at him!

That"s who Kevin Love tried to dunk on.

Biyombo blocked this shot so badly that Love is apologizing in mid-air. Love took off with the apprehension of a socially awkward boy trying to publicly confess his love to the crush that is obviously too good for him. He goes in hopeful, but without much confidence because, well, there"s nothing to be confident about. He might get lucky, but that"s against the mountains of evidence to the contrary.

Just look at how Love scurries away from the rim after Biyombo publicly shames him. That"s a man that"s going to spend years repressing the hurt. The next time Love cuts to the basket near Biyombo, he might have an anxiety attack, Hodor-style. He has already seen his own demise.

While we"re at it, why is Love trying to dunk to begin with? When did that become a big part of his game? I understand that his coach called for him to be more assertive to help his team re-position itself as the true kings of the Eastern Conference. But really, come on now. He"s trying to put Biyombo on a poster with a Crying Jordan-faced vertical leap. That"s not going to work.

I wish we could hear Love"s thoughts at the exact moment he realized he made a huge mistake. You can see the epiphany in his body when he gets ready to jump. The adrenaline and momentum built from getting past his defender quickly dissipated the moment he bent his knees and realized there"s not a snowball"s chance in h**l he"s getting those two points.

But by then, it"s too late. His body"s too far into the progression for his brain to hit the fail-safe button. He knows he"s about to get laughed at and he"s powerless to stop it. I want to know if his brain formally accepted the mistake -- I"ve made a slight miscalculation -- or if it went to the simple, accepting route -- Ah, I f****d up.

There are a few lessons to be learned from this embarrassment. One, don"t try to dunk on Bismack Biyombo if you have the jumping capabilities of a pre-next generation RPG character. Two, know what your strengths and limits are, and play to them. Don"t go to the basket trying to posterize someone when the building blocks of your game are more subtle. There"s no shame in shooting elbow jumpers. There"s only shame in trying to be something you"re not and promptly being stopped by forces bigger and more honest than you.

Know yourself Kevin Love. Know that you are not dunking on Bismack Biyombo.

Romantic weekend: Kate Mara and boyfriend Jamie Bell put on a playful display as they holidayed in Mexico this week

The former child star showed that his Fantastic Four training had done wonders for his physique as he unveiled a ripped torso in swimming trunks.

But equally, the British-born moviestar proved that his movie schedule had left him sun-starved as he prepared to tan his torso, effectively, with a blank canvas.

The couple, who are consistently caught out for "his and hers" matching attire, this time co-ordinated in classic black swimwear.

Sharing a kiss: He planted a smacker on the actress as she lay out in the sun that afternoon

Quality time: The couple were recently forced to deny that they were engaged but they certainly looked loved up

Tease: The beautiful actress was wearing a classic black bikini, to which she added his baseball cap

Hunk: Fantastic Four actor Jamie revealed his ripped torso, which was in serious need of sun

Kate spent time outstretched on sun lounger in a bandeau top and string bottoms, and to it, she added the actor"s backwards baseball cap while he took a dip.

Virtually inseparable, the couple chatted away while he swam and straight after, Jamie couldn"t wait to be reunited with the beauty and greeted her with a kiss.

Jamie and Kate were joined by a male companion who shared in their laidback card game and even a playful dance at the poolside that afternoon.

Jamie proved his dance training was still with him, 16 years after he found fame as a young boy with dreams of becoming a ballet dancer in Billy Elliott.

Still got moves: The former Billy Elliott actor proved her still has the moves

Dance party: They shared their afternoon with a male companion, who also cracked out some moves

The duo have now officially been dating for a year, but speculation of romance circulated since the promotional tour of 2015"s Fantastic Four.

They sparked engagement rumours this March when she arrived at Paris Fashion Week wearing a ring on her fourth finger.

Denying reports, Jamie and Kate simply told E! News"no" when asked if he had popped the question just under a year into their relationship.

She played the Sue Storm to his Ben Grimm alongside co-stars Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan and the acting pair have rarely been seen apart ever since.

Affectionate: Kate caught some rays on the edge of the pool but couldn"t help but keep contact with Jamie

In shape: She looked impressively toned in her short shorts and bikini

Hanging out: It was a chance to kick back, unwind and spend quality time with Jamie

Formerly married toAmerican actress Evan Rachel Wood, Jamie is father to their two-year-old son, though the couple split in May 2014, 19 months after they wed.

Kate has also been married before, but her relationship with actor Max Minghella also wrapped up in 2014, after four years.

Both Kate and Jamie are looking forward to three big screen releases in 2016, though as yet a second project together has not been confirmed.

Kate will star inLeavey,Morgan andThe Heyday Of The Insensitive Bastards, while he will be inFilm Stars Don"t Die in Liverpool and6 Days with a reported titular role inThe Adventures Of Tintin: Prisoners Of The Sun.
